Minimum requirements
Services that wish to become members must be willing to adopt the Russell Standard (Clinical) for collection of data on effectiveness and provide figures for abstinence according to this standard on an annual basis. This standard has been designed in consultation with the services to standardise monitoring of effectiveness so as to allow meaningful comparisons between different treatments. It has been adopted by the DoH as the standard for reporting success rates in English services.
Membership is free, but members must be willing to provide basic details of their service provision.

How to use the SCSRN
All services are extremely busy providing their clinical service. Therefore, the SCSRN will make no demands on their time but will simply be a resource to facilitate clinical innovation and research as and when members wish to undertake it. The SCSRN is a cooperative and has no formal structure or expectations.
The hub of the SCSRN is it's website. This can be used to:
- identify possible collaborators
- obtain resources
- publicise opportunities
- publicise findings and seek feedback
- discuss issues relating to research and monitoring
