How 52-week abstinence rate figures are obtained: All clients setting a quit date are sent a letter at 12 months to establish self-reported abstinence. There is on average a 10% response rate. Clients are asked to tick whether they are still not smoking, gone back to smoking and if smoking whether they would like further support to quit.
